Holing Up for Hard Economic Times

Hard Economic Times is an installation inspired by  the reality living in our current economy. The work addressed issues of family structure, Wealth and value, dislocation, and creative entertainment. Much of the installation was completed by the participation of students from the Branson school. Pieces included: You Gotta Move., Holing up, Gold Standard, and an incarnation of  the 1/32 scale expandable universe of Drive thru Paradise.

You Gotta Move. was constructed from a found treadmill, a Lazyboy and a remote control car. The Car body is made out of cardboard and modeled after a 59′ Cadillac Coupe De Ville.

Gold Standard (Open/Closed Detail)

The Gold Standard was constructed from a discarded dresser, vacuum cleaner old lamp parts. The object considers ideas of wealth and value, ultimately reclaiming our ability to create wealth by turning old junk into gold objects.

Drive Thru Paradise (Caffino detail)

Drive Thru Paradise is an expandable 1/32 scale racetrack made completely out of cardboard. Students from the Ross School helped build different environments for the cars to race thru.
